Getting rid of Windows XP embedded boot screen

11 09 2006
In some cases, you as an embedded device developer, do not want to show the normal Windows boot logo.
You have two options. One is to boot completely without the logo and the other is to substitute the boot logo with your own artwork.
These option both are cotrolled in the boot.ini file.
Add a /noguiboot switch to boot without and additionally add a /bootlogo switch to have your own logo.

Example:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="XP embedded" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /nopae /noguiboot /bootlogo

Your new boot logo should reside in the Windows folder of your image and be named boot.bmp as well as have a size of 648 by 480 with a color depth of 16 bit.
